Churchwardens are elected annually. They are the senior lay leaders within the church. Alistair Coney has served since 2008, and Ian Barton was elected in 2009. Tony Breeze was appointed to the honorary position of Church Warden Emeritus in 2009, following 18 years service as a warden at St John's.

Lay Readers assist the clergy in the pastoral ministry of the parish in a variety of ways, but particularly in Sunday worship. There are currently three licensed readers.
