St John's Church HartfordThe Parish of Hartford and Greenbank, Cheshire |
| During
2006 we
started planning a major building project under the title, “Building
for the Future”. We mean “future” in two senses. We want to build for the current and coming generations – the immediate future. Above all, we want our buildings to encourage the preaching of the good news of Jesus Christ to all ages in Hartford – because he alone opens an eternal future with God to those who trust him. The scope of the project is two-fold:

The first and major part of the project is the church hall. The oldest
part of the current building dates from 1929 and is now at the end of
its useful life – a rotten beam fell from the ceiling at the same time
as we launched the project! Although extended over the years, we have
decided that the best (and most cost effective) option is to entirely
demolish and rebuild it. The slideshow on the left shows the architects impressions of the design of the new hall. Click the arrows to go forwards and backwards. Do keep coming back to this page to check our progress – as we move from planning to building, we intend to publish a three-monthly newsletter with project news. We
are trusting that God will enable us to do this work if it is his
will. We keep coming back to Psalm 127.1: “Unless
the LORD builds the house,
its builders labour in vain.” |
