Vicar

Rev Mike Smith

Mike is married to Sarah, a GP, and they have two daughters, Mary and Anna. Mike joined the parish ministry team in 2001 as Associate Vicar. After leading the team that planted Christ Church, Greenbank, he became vicar in March 2004. Having grown up in Australia, Mike trained at Oak Hill Theological College and was ordained in 1995. He served previously as layworker at St Oswald's, Bidston and curate of St Mary's, Cheadle, both in this diocese, and as minister in charge of St Anne's, Hollington, near Hastings in Sussex. Interests include walking and the gym.

Rev James Hughes

James moved to Hartford with his family in 1986 and then moved away in 1999 to go to theological college. Now he's back in the area after four years training for the ministry, and after a curacy in Virginia Water, in the heart of Surrey. James has been married to Kirsty since 1997, and they have three children - Sarah, Noah and Caleb. James plays football and cricket, and enjoys growing vegetables.

Assistant Minister

Rev George Agar

George is married to Hilary and they have a son, Ben, and a daughter, Kate. George retired after a successful career in teaching including many years as a comprehensive school head. He oversees our pastoral visiting and our housegroup programme, teaches midweek courses and preaches. George joined the ministry team in 1999 after a curacy in Sandbach. Interests include travelling, walking, gardening and the theatre.

Curate

Rev George Crowder

George is married to Kath and has three young daughters, Naomi, Lucy and Hannah. He joined the team in July 2007 after completing four years training at Oak Hill Theological College. Before that he lived on the Wirral where he was a chartered civil engineer and manager in a local consultancy practice. George enjoys rock climbing, swimming and crime fiction.

Youth and Children's Minister

Roger Fawcett

Roger is married to Fran and their four children are Miriam, Heather, Thomas and Dougie. Roger joined the parish ministry team in 2005 after previous Youth Ministry posts in Nottingham and Bedfordshire. He is originally from South London, trained at Exeter University in environmental chemistry and became a science teacher. Roger was licensed in October 2005 by the Bishop of Chester. His interests include outdoor pursuits and science fiction.

Church Wardens

Churchwardens are elected annually. They are the senior lay leaders within the church. Tony has served since 1991, and Alistair since 2008.

Lay Readers

Readers assist the clergy in the pastoral ministry of the parish in a variety of ways, but particularly in Sunday worship. There are currently three licensed readers.
