Children and Young People at St John's

This area of ministry is overseen by our Youth Minister, Roger Fawcett. Suzanne Askew is our Youth Ministry Assistant.

Please read the Spring 2010 Youth Newsletter.

Sunday School

Every Sunday in term time children come to the beginning of the service before going out to their various classes for their own teaching and activity. These classes take place in the Church Hall and are supervised at all times. Children return to church with their teachers before he end of the main service. In school holidays we usually have a family service suitable for all, with crèche as usual.

Classes:
All these classes teach from the Bible, helping children come to know the love of God, the need for faith and his forgiveness of our sins. Our aim is to teach the wonderful truths found in God’s Word to each and every child in ways appropriate to the different age groups, with fun and energy. If you want to know more about what is taught please ask the group leader or Youth Minster.

On the first Sunday in every month, all the classes get together for KFC, which stands for Kids For Christ. It's a lively combination of singing, games, craft, drama and Bible stories.

Youth Ministry for Teenagers

The Church’s youth ministry seeks to encourage and equip young people to have a mature faith and living relationship with the Lord Jesus, and to enable them to live effective Christian lives amongst their peers.

Pathfinders (11-13 yrs)

Pathfinders meets again during the week for young people in years 7 to 9 at school. The club is designed to introduce the good news about the Lord Jesus and the relevance he has for our lives. This is done through a mixture of energetic games, activities and discussion.  Young people who are already part of the Sunday Pathfinders are encouraged to bring their friends along. It meets on Friday nights during term time, in the church hall from 7.30 to 9.15pm.

Crossover (14-18 yrs)

This large and vibrant group for years 10-13, meets twice a week, Sundays 8.00 to 9.30pm and Wednesdays 7.30 to 9.00pm. Sunday nights include singing, activities, discussions and teaching. Wednesdays are a chance for deeper Bible Study. Our aim is to teach the Bible clearly, effectively and relevantly, encouraging the group to make God’s word central in their lives. Many other activities, trips and events are also arranged throughout the year.
